‘तिनका-तिनका डासना’ सिर्फ एक किताब नहीं, भारत की दूसरी सबसे चर्चित जेल डासना की ज़िंदगी की लाइव रिपोर्टिंग है. देश की स्थापित जेल सुधारक वर्तिका नन्दा की यह किताब आजीवन कारावास काट रहे बंदियों की कहानी कहती है। किताब लिखे जाने के दौरान आरुषि तलवार हत्याकांड की सजा काट रहे डॉ. नुपूर-राजेश तलवार समेत पांच जिंदगियों का यह जेल से पहला दस्तावेज़ है। इस किताब के जरिए तलवार दंपत्ति ने पहली बार अपने मन की बात रखी। निठारी कांड का सुरिंद्र कोली भी किताब का हिस्सा बना। तिनका तिनका तिहाड़ के बाद डासना की यह किताब जेल के एक अनजाने संसार को लोगों को सामने खोलती है। तिनका तिनका का काम दो बार लिम्क बुक ऑफ रिकॉर्ड्स में शामिल हो चुका है। जेल को समझने के लिए इस किताब को पढ़ना अनिवार्य है।
डॉ. वर्तिका नन्दा देश की स्थापित जेल सुधारक और लेखिका हैं। तिनका तिनका भारतीय जेलों पर वर्तिका का एक अनूठा अभियान है। इसके तहत वे देश की अलग-अलग जेलों को मीडिया, साहित्य और सृजन से जोड़ कर नए प्रयोग कर रही हैं।
विशेष सम्मान: भारत के राष्ट्रपति श्री प्रणब मुखर्जी से 2014 में स्त्री शक्ति पुरस्कार से सम्मानित। उन्हें यह पुरस्कार मीडिया और साहित्य के जरिए महिला अपराधों के प्रति जागरूकता लाने के लिए दिया गया है। 2007 में भारतीय जनसंचार संस्थान, नई दिल्ली से प्रकाशित किताब- टेलीविजन और अपराध पत्रकारिता को भारतेंदु हरिश्चंद्र अवॉर्ड। दो बार लिम्का बुक ऑफ रिकॉर्ड्स में शामिल।
जेलों पर विशेष: देश की जेलों में रेडियो लाने में महत्वपूर्ण काम। 2019 में देश की सबसे पुरानी जेल इमारत आगरा की जिला जेल में रेडियो स्थापित किया। 2021 में हरियाणा की जेलों में रेडियो लाने का श्रेय उन्हीं को जाता है। 2018 में सुप्रीम कोर्ट में जस्टिस एमबी लोकूर और जस्टिस दीपक गुप्ता की बेंच ने जेलों में महिलाओं और बच्चों की स्थिति की आकलन प्रक्रिया में शामिल किया। देश की तीन जेलों के लिए परिचय गान लिखे जिन्हें जेल के ही बंदियों ने गाया। 2020 में आईसीएसएसआर की इंप्रैस स्कीम, मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्रालय के लिए भारतीय जेलों में संचार एक शोध पूरा किया जिसे उत्कृष्ट मानते हुए प्रकाशन के लिए प्रस्तावित किया गया है।

For the audience, it is easy to move on with their lives while forgetting about the impact media trials have on the families involved. In general, it’s disheartening to see the state of inmates who have already completed their due sentence again become part of a vicious cycle of humiliation, suspicion, and social isolation. We don’t make enough effort to hear both sides of a story before jumping to conclusions. Also, the reality of jails in our country, which, contrary to popular belief, are much more humane and accepting towards one another. People need to be sensitive and aware of life in jail. As a progressive society, we must be inclusive of those trying to find their path again after coming out of jail. The journey of Tinka Tinka Dasna is a noble step towards giving a voice to prisoners and making society hear their side of the story. The Tinka Tinka book series, authored by Dr. Vartika Nanda, is a crucial source of knowledge and insights into the working of Indian jails and the lives of prisoners. It beautifully incorporates literature with inspiring yet heartbreaking stories of prisoners behind bars. As a reader, it leaves a deep impression and forces us to think about that section of society that is stereotyped into one narrative.
